Dubai, UAE – XX February 2021: XXX, the super-contractor forged of Dubai-based main-contractor ALEC, and BUTEC, a design-build industrial contractor has announced it will continue to target industrial sector projects based on the strong demand of the UAE’s non-oil trade and the country’s overall resilience to the pandemic.

According to recent data, the UAE’s supply chain activity saw Q4 2020 trade volumes increase by more than 13% when compared to January 2020 and up nearly 30% from the lowest point in Q2. In addition to the country’s response to the pandemic, additional trade winds provided by the Abraham Accords and the normalisation of relations with Qatar have promoted a wide variety of opportunities with the former so far generating an additional AED1bn in trade and an estimated 15,000 jobs.

Speaking on the announcement, ALEC managing director, Barry Lewis, said: “The robust response of the UAE to extremely challenging conditions in 2020 has shown the country’s resolve to remain a central destination for international trade. Thanks to the sub-optimal performance from other nations, many businesses are either investing or seeking to establish new industrial facilities meaning a steady requirement for highly experienced and respected contractors such as ourselves.”

In keeping with the global demand for “glocalisation”, national free zones and business centres such as JAFZA, DMCC and KIZAD have all made provisions to ensure that the UAE is ready to cater to the demands of international businesses, while ensuring the highest standards of production at a competitive price.
